Brisbane Hearing

Date: 5 – 9 August 2019

Location: Court 7, Level 2, Commonwealth Law Courts, Harry Gibbs Commonwealth Law Courts Building, 119 North Quay, Brisbane

Time: 9.30am local time

The Brisbane hearing will inquire into the regulation of aged care, with a focus on quality and safety and how aspects of the current regulatory system operate.

Mildura Hearing

Date: 29 – 31 July 2019

Location: Mildura Arts Centre, 199 Cureton Ave Mildura VIC 3500

Time: 9:30am local time 

The Mildura hearing will look at the needs of family, informal and unpaid carers for older Australians, including support services for carers and respite care.

Cairns Hearing

Date: 15 July – 17 July 2019

Location: Cairns Convention Centre - Sheridan St & Wharf St, Cairns City QLD 4870

Time: 10.00am local time

The Cairns hearing will focus on aspects of care in residential, home and flexible aged care programs and examine rural and regional issues and quality of life for individuals in care.

Darwin Hearing

Date: 8 July – 12 July 2019

Location: Supreme Court Building, State Square, Darwin City NT  8000

Time: 10.00am local time

The Darwin hearing will focus on aspects of care in residential, home and flexible aged care programs and examine rural and regional issues and quality of life for individuals in care.

Perth Hearing

Date: 24 June – 28 June 2019

The Perth hearing of the Royal Commission will inquire into the nature of person-centred care, advanced care planning and palliative care services.

Broome Hearing

The Broome hearing of the Royal Commission will focus on care in remote areas, unique care needs of Indigenous Australians and issues of access and inclusion.

Sydney Hearing

Date: 6 May – 8 May 2019 and 13 May – 17 May 2019

The Sydney hearing of the Royal Commission will be about residential aged care, with a focus on care for people living with dementia.

Adelaide Hearing 2

Date: 18–22 March 2019

Adelaide Hearing 1

Date: 11 February – 13 February 2019

18 February – 22 February 2019

The first Adelaide hearings of the Royal Commission will hear about key features of the aged care, quality, safety and complaints system, about how that system works in practice and at a general level.

Preliminary Hearing
(Adelaide)

Date: 18 January 2019

Location: Courtroom 11, Level 3, Roma Mitchell Commonwealth Law Court Building, 3 Angas Street, Adelaide SA 5000

Time: 10.00am local time

A preliminary hearing about the operation of the Royal Commission.

No applications for leave to appear will be entertained. No witnesses will be called.

Future Hearings in 2019

The Royal Commission will conduct hearings in all capital cities and a number of regional locations.

The Commission anticipates hearings will take place in the weeks commencing: 5 August, 9 September, 7 October, 14 October, 4 November, 11 November and 9 December 2019. The location of each hearing will be announced progressively during the year as arrangements are finalised. Please note that these dates are subject to change.

Royal Commission hearings will be open to the public although seating will be limited. Hearings will also be streamed live through this site.

Note: Please allow at least 30-45 minutes for security screening if you are planning to attend the hearing. This is important to ensure thorough security procedures are accommodated and timely arrival at the hearing.
