The Commission will send out important information to the media which may include media releases, website updates and non-publication orders. To keep up-to-date subscribe to the media mailing list.

Media guidelines for public hearings
The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety (the Commission) recognises that the media has an important role to play in reporting on its work. The Commission will be conducting a number of public hearings.
Dates and locations of public hearings will be published on the Hearings page of the Commission's website.
Seating in the hearing room will be limited. A small number of seats will be made available for media.
Media facilities will usually include TV monitors showing a live broadcast of proceedings. High definition outputs will be available for TV media and audio outputs for radio where possible. Media should check with ACRC Media in advance of hearings.
Media access sign-in
All media attending the public hearing must sign in at the media room each day they attend the hearing and should show their media credentials on request.
Live streaming of public hearings will be made available through Webcast page.
Recording and filming
The Commission does not permit filming (including sound recording) or still photography of:
- the hearing room
- the public gallery or witness box within the hearing room
- the Commission's office, reception, lift foyer; and
- any lifts or reception of the building in which the Commission is conducting a hearing.
Mobile phones, tablets and other devices must be switched off or placed on silent while in the hearing room.
The Commission will grant permission for the media to record the initial hearing under pool arrangements, however these arrangements are not available on an ongoing basis.
Non-publication directions (NPD)
The Commission has powers to direct that any evidence not be published. A non-publication direction order may be made, varied and/or lifted during a public hearing. It is the responsibility of the media to comply with any non-publication orders, which will be published on the Commission's directions page.
Transcripts of the Commission's public hearings will be made available on the Commission's website following the hearing. The transcript will reflect any relevant non-publication orders.
Interviews with witnesses, Counsel Assisting and members of the public will not be facilitated by the Commission and are not permitted within the Commission's premises.
