How far do people move to access aged care?

New research shows many people in non-metropolitan regions move more than 100 kilometres, or drive for more than 60 minutes, from their home when they begin permanent residential aged care or use respite in an aged care facility.

The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety will issue a special report on the COVID-19 pandemic in aged care ahead of its Final Report, due on 26 February 2021.

Royal Commission to inquire into funding, financing and prudential regulation in aged care

Welcome to the latest Newsletter from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. In this issue we look at our final hearings, a special report on COVID-19 in aged care and a review of publications recently released by the Commission.

Newsletter - Issue 4 - January 2020

The Interim Report was released on 31 October 2019 and was the mid-point of the inquiry. The report was the first opportunity for the late Commissioner, the Honourable Richard Tracey AM RFD QC, and Commissioner Lynelle Briggs AO, to share preliminary conclusions of the Royal Commission ahead of the Final Report.
