Public submissions are now open for the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. The Commission issued a call for public submissions in December and will accept submissions until at least the middle of 2019. A date for the closing of submission will be announced in the second half this year.
Submissions can be made in a number of ways:

The Commission will hold its preliminary public hearing in Adelaide at 10am on Friday, 18 January 2019 at the Roma Mitchell Commonwealth Law Courts Building.
The Commissioners will each make a statement setting out their vision for the operation of the Royal Commission, including the conduct of the hearings to follow. Senior Counsel Assisting the Royal Commission will make a brief opening statement. No applications for leave to appear will be entertained. No witnesses will be called.
The hearing will be streamed live through the Royal Commission's website and a transcript will be available on this site after the hearing.
The Commission will commence hearing evidence from witnesses from February. Details about those hearings will be announced later this month. Applications for leave to appear at those hearings can be made in accordance with practice guidelines, which will be published on the Commission's website.
Media attendance – important information
The preliminary hearing will be open to the public and there will be limited seats for the media inside the court room. Video and photography will be limited to pool coverage.
Additional seats will be provided for working media in the media room on the ground floor. Audio and video feeds of the hearing will be available. You will be required to show your media credentials as you sign in. Please allow at least 30 to 45 minutes for security screening if you are planning to attend the hearing. Media are asked to view the Media Guidelines for Public Hearings before attending a hearing.
