Research Paper 18 – Hospitalisations in Australian Aged Care: 2014/15–2018/19
New research by the Office of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety shows the rates of hospitalisation of aged care facility residents aged 65 years or more.
Research Paper 17 – Experimental Estimates of the Prevalence of Elder Abuse in Australian Aged Care Facilities
Around 39.2 per cent of people living in Australian aged care facilities experience elder abuse in the form of neglect, emotional abuse or physical abuse according to experimental estimates by the Office of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.

This report from The Architecture Practice describes the findings of their independent assessment of the current state of aged care information, communications and assistive technology systems for the aged care sector. It found that there are major deficiencies which do not lead to positive outcomes for older Australians accessing aged care, and propose a number of actions for the Royal Commissioners to consider.

New research shows many people in non-metropolitan regions move more than 100 kilometres, or drive for more than 60 minutes, from their home when they begin permanent residential aged care or use respite in an aged care facility.

This report presents the results of a survey designed to enable those living in residential aged care, including those living with cognitive decline, to express how they feel about their lives and the care they receive.
Research Paper 14 – Inside the system: home and respite care clients’ perspectives

In this survey, telephone interviews were conducted between mid-April 2020 and early June 2020 with a randomly drawn representative sample of 1,223 respondents with questionnaires exploring quality of care, general life satisfaction, quality of life, and concerns and complaints.
Aged care and COVID-19: a special report
The report looks into the impact of COVID-19 on aged care and is the result of a hearing of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety , which was held in Sydney from 10 to 13 August 2020.
