The following Australian Government funded services are available to anyone who is experiencing concern or distress from their participation in or issues that emerge during the Royal Commission

Beyond Blue

Phone 1300 224 636 (24 hours / 7 days)

Provides free, immediate, short-term counselling, advice and referral to anyone in Australian via telephone, webchat or email 24/7.

Dementia Australia

Free call 1800 100 500 between 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday or send an email or chat online

Dementia Australia provides free, confidential support including information about dementia; on how you may be able to reduce the risk of getting dementia; about government support services (including My Aged Care, the Carer Gateway, Centrelink); about services in your area and emotional support to help you manage the impact of dementia. The National Dementia Helpline is funded by The Australian Government.

Family and Relationship Services

Family and Relationship Services, funded by the Department of Social Services, provide support to individuals and families experiencing distress or difficulties in their relationships and lives. Family and Relationship Services aim to support all family members through the provision of broad-based counselling, education and broader parenting and family support.

The Australian Government's digital mental health gateway which helps people more easily access information, advice, and free or low cost phone and online mental health services and supports, that suit their needs, when and where they need it.

This is a confidential service providing support to anyone in Australia who is feeling overwhelmed, having difficulty coping, or thinking about suicide. This service also provides advice to anyone caring for that person.

Open Arms

Phone 1800 011 046 (24 hours / 7 days)

The service provides free and confidential counselling and group programs specifically designed to support mental health and wellbeing of current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force personnel and their families.

Additional information

Trained operators are also available through the Royal Commission information line for callers that are distressed, to offer information and support – phone 1800 960 711 (8:30am - 5:30pm ACST, Monday-Friday except on public holidays. Interpreter service also available).
